for those of you who like rap music, may not understand what this post is about. this post is about a true pioneer in the culture of Hip Hop, a graffiti artist by the name of CASE (sometimes KASE) 2.
for me, growing up on a steady diet of graff from my older cousin CRASH from Philly, i was introduced to the whole style of it before i saw him in the movie. the movie i'm speakin about is "Style Wars" and it changed my life forever.
one of the characters in it was this dude right here. i immediately related to the baw cause he reminded me of my cuz... slick talker, hip walker, always catchin a slam wit a marker. what made him so amazing to me was that this dude was doin all of this incredible artwork, while being in illegal spots, all with ONE ARM. the picture is no special effect. dude is truly a testament to our willingness to succeed at what we believe in. just for the sake of being good at it. and that was hip hop. i miss it ssoooo much.
watchin him made me believe i could do it. made me believe i could do it big. now some 20+ years later, im regarded as a legend in my city. im still gettin used to being thought of in that way cause my view of what a legend was always those dudes. this dude. not me. and his status and position seemed so far away.
i could never be the man i claim to be if i did not take a moment to give full respect due to one of the greatest influencers of the culture who is now passed on to the next existence. a dude who was writin on walls BEFORE there was rappers on the mic. a legend of our time, and a great influence on me. and thru his willingness to just be good at it, has forever made sure that his name and his accomplishments will never be forgotten.
thats that bboy shit.
only a few of u can understand...
bless the dead...
